Powder inspection
APT Powder Inspection
Inspect free-flowing powders and granules for visually distinguishable contamination during processing. APT Powder Inspection combines controlled product presentation with high-speed imaging and automatic separation of detected impurities.
Application
A uniformly dispensed falling product stream passes through a multi-camera inspection zone. Real-time image processing identifies foreign material that differs optically from the product. Open-process and contained arrangements can be engineered for pharmaceutical, chemical, food and life science applications, including API processes.
Key features
- Inspection for fibers, plastic, metal, chipped paint, hair fragments and other visible contamination.
- Encapsulated design, automatic self-monitoring and rapid cleaning access.
- Cleanroom or isolator integration with application-specific product handling.

Technical information
| Feature | Specification |
|---|---|
| Material | Free-flowing powders and granules; suitability depends on flow and optical characteristics. |
| Imaging | Up to four high-resolution high-speed cameras; monochrome or color processing. |
| Detection capability | Optically distinguishable particles from 50 µm under suitable application conditions. |
| Optional technology | Near-infrared spectroscopy for foreign material that is visually similar to the product, subject to feasibility. |
| Capacity | Product-specific and scalable; define through trials. |
| Execution | Food-safe certified materials, mobile equipment options and validation documentation. |
System configuration, inspection capability and achievable output depend on the product, handling conditions and agreed application requirements. APT evaluates each application to define the appropriate inspection, integration and qualification scope.
